All U.S. citizens need a Congo visa when traveling to the Republic of Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) or the Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo-Kinshasa). You must secure your visa before arriving in either country.
If you arrive without a valid travel visa, you will not be allowed to enter the country and you could be detained. When traveling to Congo-Brazzaville, you must also present an invitation letter and a written copy of your hotel reservations to immigration officials upon arrival. Submitting Your Application
All Congo visa applications must be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) or the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo-Kinshasa) as appropriate. The processing time for a Congo-Kinshasa application is three days for a tourist or business visa and 24 hours for a diplomatic visa. Same day service is not available.
The fee for a multiple entry visa to Congo-Brazzaville is $70. The fee for a one-way transit visa to Congo-Kinshasa is $20, and the fee for a two-way transit visa is $40.
The cost of a single or multiple entry visa to Congo-Kinshasa ranges from $115 to $400 depending on the length of the validity of the visa. Fees for a Congo-Kinshasa diplomatic visa are waived. All Congo-Kinshasa visa fees can be paid by money order, certified check or company check. Other forms of payment are not accepted.
