There are additional requirements if you are a former Chinese national, you are a child of Chinese descent born in the United States or you are the foreign spouse or child of a Chinese citizen. There may also be other requirements based on the type of visa for which you are applying.
How To Apply
You must submit your application for a China travel visa in person at a Chinese Embassy or Consulate-General with jurisdiction over the state in which you live. You cannot send your application by mail. No appointment is required, and if you are unable to apply on your own, you may have someone apply on your behalf. The processing time for a Chinese visa is one to four days. Regular processing takes four days. Express service takes 2-3 days and costs an additional $20. For a $30 fee, you can get same day service.
All applicable visa fees are due when you pick up your visa. You can pay for your visa by Visa, Mastercard, money order, cashier’s check or company check. Money orders and checks should be made payable to Chinese Embassy. Cash and personal checks are not acceptable forms of payment.
