Brazil Business Visa

Did your boss just schedule a last minute business trip with your counterparts in Brazil? If so, you will need a Brazil business visa before you arrive in the country. All U.S. citizens are required to have a travel visa when visiting Brazil regardless of the purpose of their trip or the duration of their stay.

You must obtain your visa prior to arriving since Brazil does not issue visas on arrival. Business visas are issued for the following reasons:

  • Business trips to visit companies; evaluate existing operations, contracts and investment opportunities; close import or export deals
  • Media coverage or filming
  • Members of flight crews who do not have an international crew card
  • Adoption of a Brazilian child
  • If you are not traveling to Brazil for one of the reasons listed above, you must obtain a different type of visa. It is important that you obtain the appropriate visa before you depart. If you arrive in Brazil without the proper travel documents, you will not be allowed to enter the country.

    Requirements

Below is a list of Brazil business visa requirements. These requirements can change at any time and Consular Officials may request additional information before issuing your visa. For the most current visa requirements, visit the website of the Embassy of Brazil.

  • A completed online application. You must complete your visa application online before submitting it to the Consulate for processing. Make sure all of the information you provide is complete and accurate. Missing and incorrect information will delay the issuance of your visa.
  • Two receipt pages from the visa application you completed online. Make sure they are filled out properly and signed.
  • A U.S. passport valid for at least 6 months with at least one blank visa page.
  • Two recent passport photos
  • An itinerary confirming your return trip from Brazil. If are arriving in Brazil by land, you must also include evidence of sufficient funds for your visit.
  • Applicable Brazil business visa fees
  • A letter on company letterhead signed by a senior manager that includes the following:

  • Applicant’s name
  • Applicant’s job title
  • Name of the company the applicant will be visiting in Brazil
  • Purpose of visit
  • Length of visit
  • Statement that the applicant will not be providing technical assistance
  • Submitting Your Application

Your completed application can be submitted in person or by mail. (NOTE: Some Brazilian Consulates do not accept applications by mail. Be sure to check the requirements of the Consulate that has jurisdiction over the state in which you live.) If you send your application by mail, you must include a pre-paid self-addressed USPS Express Mail envelope. Regardless of whether you apply for your Brazil business visa in person or by mail, it typically takes approximately 7-10 business days to process applications (not including mail time). However, it can take longer when application volume is high. You cannot request “rush” or “emergency” service, so it is important that you allow as much time as possible for your application to be processed to ensure you will have your visa before your scheduled departure.

    Payment

The cost of a business visa is $140.00. There is an additional $20.00 fee for applications submitted by visa services or by mail. Payment is accepted by US Postal Money Order only.

    Visa Service

Do you live in a state where residents are required to apply for their visas in person? Is the Consulate hours away, making it impractical if not impossible for you to submit your Brazil business visa application in person?

A professional visa service like “company name” can help. Visa companies are authorized by foreign embassies and consulates to submit applications on behalf of their clients. When you need to secure your business visa, but you are unable to apply in person, a professional visa service will submit your application for you.

Simply place your order, send them all of the required documentation, and they will personally deliver your application to the Brazilian Consulate for processing. After your visa is issued, they will pick it up and mail it directly to you, so you won’t have to delay or miss an important business trip.
