Algeria Visa

All U.S. citizens need a valid passport and Algeria visa for entry into the country. If you are planning to travel to Algeria, it is very important that you secure all of your travel documents prior to arriving. Visas are not issued on arrival in Algeria, and without the appropriate travel visa you will not be permitted to enter the country.

The following is a list of items that are required when applying for a visa to Algeria. This list is not meant to be all-inclusive, and visa requirements are subject to change without notice.

For the most up to date list of visa requirements, visit the website of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Algeria or contact the Algerian Embassy in Washington, D.C. or the Algerian Consulate in New York.

  • Two copies of the Algeria visa application form with your signature. Application forms must be typed. Hand written applications will not be accepted. It is very important that you accurately complete every field on the application. Incomplete or inaccurate applications may delay the issuance of your visa.
  • U.S. passport with at least six months validity and one blank visa page remaining
  • Two passport photos. The applicant’s name should be written in pencil on the back of each photo
  • Applicable visa fees
  • If you are applying for a business visa, you must include a letter from your employer and a letter of invitation from the business you will be visiting on arrival in Algeria.
  • If you are applying for a work visa, you must provide an employment authorization with your Algeria visa application
  • If you are applying for a tourist visa, you must include a copy of your itinerary and hotel reservation for your stay in Algeria
  • If you are visiting family or friends in Algeria, you must include a letter of invitation from your host family
  • Consular officials have the right to request additional documentation from any applicant prior to issuing a visa. In addition, it is important to remember that applying for a visa does not guarantee you will be issued one.

Visas are issued at the discretion of the Algerian Embassy/Consulate and applications can be denied for a variety of reasons.

    Submitting Your Application

After you have completed your Algeria visa application forms and gathered the documentation you are required to include, you can submit your application in person or by mail.

If you choose to submit your application in person, you must do so at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Algeria in Washington D.C. or the Algerian Consulate in New York depending upon which office has jurisdiction over the state in which you reside.

If you are unable to submit your application in person, you can mail it to the appropriate location. If you send your application by mail, you must include a prepaid, self-addressed USPS Express Mail return envelope, so your passport with your visa stamp can be returned to you after your visa is issued.

The cost of an Algeria visa is $135.00 and is non-refundable. Payment must be made in the form of a money order issued by the U.S. Postal Service. Other forms of payment will not be accepted.
