Zambia Visa

All U.S. citizens need a Zambia visa for entry into the country. Single entry visas can be obtained on arrival for a fee of $50.00. All types of visas can be secured at a Zambia Embassy or Consulate prior to arriving.

Upon arrival, you may be required to provide a yellow fever vaccination certificate. According to the U.S. Department of State, all visitors are required to carry their passport or a certified copy of their passport at all times while in Zambia.

It is very important that you do not remain in the country longer than your authorized stay. If you do, you could face fines and imprisonment.

Requirements

When you apply for a travel visa, you will be required to submit a variety of forms and supporting documentation in order for your application to be processed.

The precise documents you must provide will vary depending on the purpose of your visit and the type of Zambia visa for which you are applying.

However, below is a list of items that are commonly required to secure a visa for travel to Zambia.

  • Two completed application forms. Be sure to provide all of the required information. Incomplete and inaccurate applications will not be processed, delaying the issuance of your visa.
  • U.S. passport with at least six months validity beyond your travel dates and two blank visa pages
  • Photocopy of the data page of your passport
  • Visa fee
  • Two passport photos. Be sure to sign the back of each one.
  • Itinerary or copy of plane ticket.
  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate
  • This is not a comprehensive list of requirements. If you are applying for a multiple entry Zambia visa, you will have to provide additional documents, and there may be additional requirements based on the reason for your trip.

Furthermore, the application form and supporting documents must be submitted in a certain order depending on the type of visa for which you are applying.

Visa requirements can change at any time. For the most up to date visa requirements, visit the website of the Embassy of Zambia.

    Submitting Your Application

After you have completed your application form and gathered the required supporting documents, you will need to submit your application materials to the Zambia embassy or consulate for processing if you are applying for a single or double entry Zambia visa.

(NOTE: If you are applying for a multiple entry visa, you must first receive approval from the Chief Immigration Officer in Zambia.)

In general, regular processing takes three to five business days, but it can take longer when application volume is high. Same day service is available for an additional fee of $50.00, and next day service is available for an extra fee of $40. Visas issued to U.S. citizens are valid for three years.

    Payment

The cost of a single entry visa is $50.00, and the cost of a double or multiple entry visa is $80.00. Fees are payable by money order or bank certified check. Other forms of payment will not be accepted. All visa fees are non-refundable.
