South Korea Foreign Entry Requirements
If you are planning a trip to South Korea, it is important that you learn about the South Korea foreign entry requirements before you arrive.
Without the proper documentation, you may not be allowed to enter the country. All U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport, and you may need a visa and/or alien registration card depending on the purpose and length of your trip.

All U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport to enter the country. If you do not have a passport or your existing passport is damaged or will expire before your trip, you must obtain a new one before arriving.
According to the South Korea foreign entry requirements, U.S. citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days if they are traveling for any of the following reasons: tourism, business, attending a conference, or visiting family and/or friends.
However, if you will be staying for longer than 90 days or the purpose of your trip is something other than the reasons listed above, you must obtain a visa before you arrive in Korea.
When you apply for your visa, you will be required to provide supporting documentation so your application can be processed. The exact requirements vary based on the purpose of your trip.

A valid U.S. passport
A passport size photo
A completed application form. It is very important that you provide all of the requested information. If your form is incomplete or inaccurate, your application will not be processed, delaying the issuance of your visa and possibly your travel plans.

Alien Registration Card
According to the South Korea foreign entry requirements, if you will be staying for longer than 90 days you must apply for an Alien Registration Card when you arrive in Korea.
