North Korea Foreign Entry Requirements

According to the North Korea foreign entry requirements, all U.S. citizens must have a valid passport to enter the country. If you do not have a passport or your current passport is damaged or will expire before your trip, you must obtain a new one before arriving in North Korea.
U.S. citizens traveling to North Korea are required to have a visa to enter the country. However, there is no North Korean Embassy in the United States.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs website, the only place U.S. citizens can secure a North Korean visa is the North Korean Embassy in Beijing, China. But, the Embassy must receive authorization from the DPRK Foreign Ministry in Pyongyang before a visa will be issued.
