Liberia Foreign Entry Requirements

All U.S. citizens traveling to Liberia should familiarize themselves with the Liberia foreign entry requirements before arriving. Without the appropriate documentation, you may not be allowed to enter the country.

All U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport, visa and evidence they have been vaccinated against Yellow Fever. Additional information about these requirements is included below.

All U.S. citizens traveling to Liberia must have a valid passport to enter the country. If you do not have a passport or your passport is damaged or will expire before your trip, you must obtain a new one before arriving in Liberia.


According to the Liberia foreign entry requirements, all U.S. citizens need a visa to enter the country. Visas must be obtained before arriving as they are not issued on arrival in Liberia.

When you apply for your visa, you will be required to provide a variety of forms and supporting documents, so your application can be processed. Items that are commonly required to secure a visa are listed below.

  • Two completed application forms. It is important that you complete this form in its entirety. Incomplete and/or inaccurate applications will not be processed, delaying the issuance of your visa and possibly your travel plans
  • U.S. passport with at least six months validity remaining
  • Two passport photos
  • Itinerary
  • Prepaid, self-addressed USPS/FedEx/UPS return envelope, so your passport can be returned to you when your visa is issued
