Ghana Foreign Entry Requirements
If you are traveling to Ghana, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the Ghana foreign entry requirements before you arrive. If you do not meet the necessary requirements, you may not be allowed to enter the country.
All U.S. citizens are required to have proof of a Yellow Fever vaccination, a valid passport and a visa when they arrive. Additional information about these requirements is included below.

Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate
All U.S. citizens are required to show evidence that they have been vaccinated against Yellow Fever when they arrive in Ghana.
According to the Ghana foreign entry requirements, U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport to enter the country. If you do not have a passport or your current passport is damaged or will expire before your trip, you must obtain a new one before arriving in Ghana.
All U.S. citizens are required to secure a Ghana visa for entry into the country. Ghana issues several different types of visas. It is important that you secure the appropriate type of visa based on the purpose of your trip prior to arriving in Ghana.
When you apply for a visa you will be required to provide a variety of forms and supporting documents so your application can be processed. The exact requirements vary based on the type of visa for which you are applying. Below is a list of items that are commonly required to secure a visa to meet the Ghana foreign entry requirements.
Two copies of your completed visa application form. It is important that this form be completed in its entirety. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be processed.
U.S. passport with at least six months validity remaining
Two passport photos taken within the last three months
Proof of sufficient funds for your trip to Ghana or a letter of invitation from your host

Submitting Your Application
After you have filled out your application forms and gathered the required documentation to obtain the visa you need to satisfy the Ghana foreign entry requirements, you can submit your application materials in person at the Ghana Embassy or Consulate or by mail.
If you send your application by mail, you must include a certified FedEx prepaid, self-addressed return envelope so your passport can be returned to you when your visa is issued.
