Czech Republic Foreign Entry Requirements
If you are traveling to the Czech Republic, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the Czech Republic foreign entry requirements prior to your trip.
All U.S. citizens are required to have proof of sufficient funds for their stay, medical insurance, a valid passport and may also need a visa when traveling to the Czech Republic. Without the proper documentation, you will not be allowed to enter the country.
Additional information about this requirement is included below. However, entry requirements are subject to change. For the most up to date information, contact the Embassy of the Czech Republic or visit the website of the Embassy of the Czech Republic.
Proof of Sufficient Funds
When you arrive in the Czech Republic, you may be required to provide evidence of sufficient funds, such as cash, a credit card or bank statement for your stay.
According to the Czech Republic foreign entry requirements, all visitors must have medical insurance that will cover the cost of all medical treatment and hospitalization as needed for the entire length of their stay in the Czech Republic.
To enter the country, all U.S. citizens are required to have a passport with at least three months validity beyond their scheduled stay. If you do not have a passport or your current passport has been damaged or does not have the requisite amount of validity, you must obtain a new one before arriving in the Czech Republic.
Because the Czech Republic is part of the Schengen agreement, after entering the country, U.S. citizens can travel freely among all Schengen countries for up to 90 days without having to show their travel documents again.
According to the Czech Republic foreign entry requirements, U.S. citizens can travel for tourism or business without a visa for up to 90 days.
However, if you are staying for more than 90 days or you are traveling to the Czech Republic for a reason other than tourism or business, you need to secure a visa before arriving.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs website, if you need a visa for your trip, you should apply three to four months before your scheduled departure.
When you apply for your visa, you will be required to submit a variety of forms and supporting documents so your application can be processed.
The exact requirements vary based on the type of visa for which you are applying. However, listed below are items that are commonly required to secure a visa if you need one to satisfy the Czech Republic foreign entry requirements.
