Cyprus Foreign Entry Requirements

All U.S. citizens need a valid passport, and you may need a visa or residency permit depending on the length of your stay. If you do not satisfy these requirements, you may not be allowed to enter the country when you arrive.

All U.S. citizens traveling to Cyprus are required to have a valid passport. If you do not have a passport or your current passport is damaged or will expire before your trip, you must obtain a new one before arriving in Cyprus to satisfy the Cyprus foreign entry requirements.
Point of Entry
According to the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs website, Cyprus has designated the following as the only legal points of entry into the country: Larnaca and Paphos airports and the Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos seaports. Entering the country anywhere else is considered illegal.
U.S. citizens traveling to Cyprus for less than 90 days do not need a visa. However, if you are staying for more than 90 days you may need a visa or residence permit.
If you are required to secure a visa for your stay in Cyprus, you must provide a variety of forms and supporting documents during the application process. Below is a list of items that are commonly required to obtain a visa if you need one to satisfy the Cyprus foreign entry requirements.
Completed application form
U.S. passport valid for at least six months after your scheduled date of arrival in Cyprus
Two passport photos
Letter explaining the purpose of your trip
Hotel reservation/Letter of invitation
Copy of medical insurance
Copy of bank statements

Turkish Cypriot Administered Areas
There may be additional requirements to enter areas of the country controlled by the Turkish Cypriots. These areas are not governed by the government of the Republic of Cyprus.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs website, the Cyprus government doesn’t issue residence permits to individuals who are staying in areas outside government control, and they do not recognize residence permits issued by Turkish Cypriot authorities.
