Bahrain Foreign Entry Requirements

If you are going to travel to Bahrain, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the Bahrain foreign entry requirements before you arrive. U. S. citizens are required to abide by several guidelines for entry into the country.

Additional information about the entry requirements is included below. However, these requirements are subject to change.

It’s a good idea to verify the most up to date information by contacting the Bahrain Embassy or visiting the website of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain before your trip.

All U.S. citizens need a passport valid for at least six months upon arriving in Bahrain. If you do not have a passport or your passport does not have the requisite amount of validity remaining, you will need to secure a new one before arriving in Bahrain.

In addition to having a valid passport, Bahrain foreign entry requirements mandate that U.S. citizens have a valid visa to be allowed into the country. According to the U.S. Department of State, there are three ways you can secure a Bahrain visa:

  • Online through the Bahraini government website. You can apply for a two-week tourist visa online.
  • On arrival. If you don’t get your visa before traveling to Bahrain, you can get a two-week tourist visa on arrival.
  • At the Embassy. If you would rather get your visa before your trip or you need to stay in Bahrain for longer than two weeks, you can get a five-year multiple entry visa that allows stays of up to one month at the Bahrain Embassy.
  • When you arrive in Bahrain, it is important that you stay only as long as your visa allows. If you overstay your visa, you could be subject to large fines.

When you apply for your visa to meet the Bahrain foreign entry requirements, you will be required to provide a variety of forms and supporting documents. Below is a list of items that are commonly required to secure a Bahrain visa.

    Visa Requirements

  • U.S. passport valid for at least six months
  • Completed visa application form. It is important that you complete this form in its entirety. Incomplete applications will not be processed, delaying the issuance of your visa and possibly your travel plans.
  • Passport photo
  • Letter explaining the purpose of your trip
  • Evidence of sufficient funds to pay for your stay in Bahrain
  • Itinerary
  • This list is not meant to be all-inclusive. You may be required to provide additional documentation depending on the reason for your trip. Visa requirements are subject to change.

    Submitting Your Application

If you do not obtain your visa online or on arrival, you will need to submit your application to either the Bahrain Embassy in Washington, D.C. or the Permanent Mission in New York. According to the Bahrain Embassy website, it takes approximately two to four weeks to process visa applications.
